(sub)version productions, producers of the hit show The Buttcracker: A Nutcracker Burlesque©, is proud to announce the newest in live game show events, THE CHICAGO PUNTATHLON, the first ever five round pun competition. This game show meets cabaret is a fast paced Dad Joke extravaganza with celebrity judges and performances from some of Chicago’s funniest comics. Tickets are $20 pre-sale, $25 at the door, and are available for purchase online at https://www.stage773.com.
Hosted by The Ricky Harris of Places!, THE CHICAGO PUNTATHLON features five rounds of pun games with points awarded by both three celebrity guest judges and the audience. Any audience member can enter the first round, a rapid fire elimination round where we boil it down to three contestants who will then go on to compete in the final four rounds. Those who wish to compete in the first round are encouraged to arrive early to the venue to sign up. Rounds will be interspersed with performances, and there will be one intermission. After scores are tallied, the player with the most points wins a $100 cash prize, a Golden Remote Control trophy, and is crowned “Dad of the Year.” Official games and their rules will be announced via the Facebook event page.
THE CHICAGO PUNTATHLON features comedy celebrity guest judges Sonal Aggarwal, Plucky Rosenthal, and Billie Bullock, with performances by Comedy Dance Chicago (dance), Aunt Nance (comedy singing), The Amazing Tomas (comic magician), and burlesque headliner Mo Less (of Bad Taste). Melvina Czervicz joins with her brassy accordion and crassy jokes, and Matt Griffo assists with improvised keyboard accompaniment. Melissa Koops serves as Announcer/Score Keeper, with sonic experience by Missi Davis and lighting by Chris Corwin. Wendy Madrigal stage manages. This event is wheelchair accessible,
